Magic,’ Bruce Springsteen’s new studio recording and his first with the E Street Band in five years, is set for release by Columbia Records on October 2, 2007. Produced and mixed by Brendan O’Brien, the album features eleven new Springsteen songs and was recorded at Southern Tracks Recording Studio in Atlanta, GA.

‘Magic’ is the first new studio album by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band since 2002’s GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum, number one album ‘The Rising’ (Columbia Records), which was also produced by O’Brien.

Bruce Springsteen’s longtime manager Jon Landau said, “‘Magic’ is a high energy rock CD. Its light on its feet, incredibly well played by Bruce and the members of the E Street Band, and, as always, has plenty to say. Its also immensely entertaining. ‘Magic’ is the third collaboration between Bruce and Brendan O’Brien and is a culmination of their very productive creative relationship.”

Some facts about Bruce Springsteen:

  • Bruce Springsteen signed a solo deal with Columbia Records in 1972, just like his idol Bob Dylan ten years before.
  • Bruce said he was influenced by Bob Dylan. He has performed “Blowin’ In The Wind” at concerts and he and Dylan once sang “Forever Young” onstage together.
  • “Dancing in the Dark” is ranked number 115 on rock.com’s top 500 classic rock song list.
  • “Born to Run” is ranked number 13 on rock-songs.com best classic rock songs ever.
  • Thunder Road is ranked #96 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Songs of Rock & Roll.
  • Mostly known for playing guitar and harmonica. He recorded his album “Nebraska” alone with just these two instruments. However, he also knows how to play the mandolin, organ, piano and percussion. He played all of these – and shook a tambourine – on “The Seeger Sessions.
  • “Streets of Philadelphia” won many Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for Best Song.
  • Won Grammy Award in 2006 for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for his song “Devils and Dust.” The song references the war in Iraq.
  • In 2007, Bruce won a Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album for “The Seeger Sessions”.
  • After a low-key start, Born to Run was released, and the critics and a significant cult audience were with him, and the title song became a Top 40 hit while the album reached the Top Ten.
  • Again, after 3 low-key releases, then came Born in the USA (1984) and a two-year international tour. The album threw off 7 hit singles and sold over 10 million copies.
  • Reunited with the E Street Band and embarked on a world tour that lasted until mid-2000, its final dates resulting in the album Live in New York City.
  • Then in 2002, he released his first new full-length studio album to feature the group as a whole since Born in the USA, The Rising.
  • Followed by another successful tour and recording sessions for a new album, released as Devils & Dust in 2005.
  • Released first covers album of his career, a tribute album to Pete Seeger, We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions.
